What? If you have no idea what a ‘hamper’ is, you should definitely check out Fortnum & Mason during holiday season. Fortum & Mason is as English as it gets, specializing in exquisite tea’s, cookies and marmalade. It was founded as a grocery store in 1707 by William Fortnum and Hugh Mason but gradually grew into a luxurious department store. The basement and ground floor are a food shop, upstairs you can buy porcelain and silverware and even higher F&M serves a delicious afternoon tea.
Looks? The big Fortnum & Mason building was completely renovated in 2007. The interior design is warm and luxurious, but the prettiest part of F&M are the window displays. Together with Selfridges, Fortnum & Mason has the most amazing window decorations in the world.
What else? So, the hamper. It is actually just a basket, but the basket is packed with luxurious goodies such as strawberry champagne jam, Royal Blend tea and Bruichladdich whiskey. If I can recommend one thing to put in your hamper, it is piccadilly piccalilly, which tastes as good as its sounds.
Info? Mon to Sat from 10am to 8pm, Sun from 11.30am to 6pm
