What? The ultimate London department store, and aside from Harrods also the biggest one. From beauty products to fashion, from restaurants to kid’s toys and from interior accessories to designer handbags: Selfridges has it all. You can spot their iconic yellow shopping bags everywhere on the big shopping streets. But Selfridges is so much more than your ordinary department store. They do exclusive designer collabs, set up pop-up initiatives and like to experiment through their window displays. This makes Selfridges a place where you can always discover something new. The perfect excuse to go there again and again and again.
Looks? Obviously the most interesting side of Selfridges is the inside, but please take your time to look at the beautiful façade of this 1909 building by American architect Daniel Burnham. Don’t forget to browse the amazing window displays. London retailers are masters at designing the most attractive windows in the world.
What else? Fans of the Netflix show ‘Chef’s Table’ will be able to greet the American chef starring in the show on Selfridges’ top floor. Chef Dan Barber is opening his pop-up WastED there from Feb 24 to April 2nd. In his pop-up Barber will research several ways to use overlooked by-products of the food system to create wonderful culinary dishes.
Info? Mon to Sat from 9.30am to 9pm, Sun from 11.30am to 6pm
