What? In The Gallery at Sketch you feel like Alice in Culinary Wonderland. The afternoon tea is beyond comparison, but not really cheap. The one with champagne on the side can easily cost you about 80 euros per person, but you can really consider it a full meal. Sketch contains five different concepts in one place. I guess the French chef Pierre Gagnaire and restaurant owner Mazouz find it hard to choose. One of those concepts is The Gallery, the other are called The Glade, The Lecture Room, The East Bar en The Parlour.
Looks? British artist Martin Creed re-designed The Gallery a few years ago and transformed it into a pink piece of eye-candy. After Creed it was graphic artist David Shrigley’s turn to work his creative magic in the room. Not only did he provide artwork for the walls, the porcelain is also decorated with his drawings. As you may have worked out by now, The Gallery didn’t steel its name. Art and gastronomy go hand in hand in this place.
What Else? Please check out the toilets at Sketch. The so called ‘pots’ are white egg-shaped cabines that lift the experience of going to the loo to a whole new lavel. GQ Magazine nominated these toilets as one of the ten best toilets in London. The ones at Nopi are also listed.
Info? Mon to Fri from 8am to 2am, Sat from 10am to 2am and Sun from 10am to midnight, make sure to book at ‘The Gallery’
