What? The Wedding Gallery is every bridezilla’s dream: a department store where fiancés can find everything you need when organizing a wedding party. From the engagement rings and invitations to flowers, dresses, decorations, music, photographers and even the honeymoon. Owner George Hammer is known in the UK for his successful career in the world of beauty brands. Now Hammer is determined to transform London into a prime wedding destination. ‘We are not just offering a selection of brands and designers. We operate as curators. Our mix is very special: we have dresses from Vera Wang, Elie Saab and Oscar de la Renta but we also promote London’s best designers like Hermione de Paula, who already designed dresses for Beyoncé.’
Looks? When you just follow google maps to the The Wedding Gallery address, you won’t find a typical department store with the likes of Harrods or Selfridges. One Marlybone is the address of a church, the Holy Trinity Church that is. A beautiful building that was renovated in 2008. The Wedding Gallery sit in the catacombs of the church. The Holy Trinity Church itself is rented out for…as you might have guessed…wedding parties.
What else? You don’t just casually walk in this place. An appointment is obligatory, as is the deposit of 50 pounds. ‘We want to avoid too many people just wandering around to steel some ideas’, owner George Hammer says. Obviously the 50 pounds are deducted from your final bill.
